Privacy Policy
In short: the app does not collect or share your data. Your journal is stored only on your phone.
What data the app holds
Only what you enter yourself: habits and events, daily marks, values (minutes, kilometres, counts and so on), tags, pauses, your answers to the app's questions, and your reminder and appearance settings.
This data is stored in the phone's memory, inside the app. Other apps cannot access it.
What the app does not do
- it does not connect to the internet: the app has no network permission;
- it uses no analytics, ads, crash reporting or third-party services;
- it needs no account and never asks for your name, email or phone number;
- it does not read your contacts, location, photos or files;
- it is excluded from Android's automatic backup: your data does not go to Google's cloud unless you send it yourself.
The developer has no server that your data could reach and cannot see your journal.
When data leaves your phone
Only when you send it yourself through the system Share menu:
- Journal backup: a file with all your entries and settings, used to restore the journal on another phone;
- Summary: one habit or event for a period you choose, as text, for example for a doctor or a coach.
You choose the recipient: a cloud drive, email, a messenger or another person. From then on the file is handled under the recipient's rules. The developer never receives it. Backups are not encrypted, so keep them somewhere you trust.
To restore, you pick the backup file yourself. The app reads only that file.
Permissions
- Notifications: to show the reminders you turned on. A reminder's text (the habit name) may be visible on the lock screen. You can change this in the system notification settings.
- Run at startup: after a restart or a time change, the system clears scheduled alarms, and the app sets your reminders again.
Google Play
The app is installed through Google Play. Google may collect installation data and, if you allowed it in your phone settings, anonymous crash reports. This happens under Google's Privacy Policy. The developer sees only aggregate statistics that do not identify anyone. Journal contents are never part of them.
Deleting your data
Uninstall the app or clear its data: Settings → Apps → Etude → Storage → Clear data. The journal is permanently deleted from the phone. Backups you sent earlier stay wherever you sent them and are deleted there.
Children
The app is not intended for children under 13 and does not collect data about anyone, children included.
Changes
If the app ever starts handling data differently, this page will be updated before that version is released, and the date above will change.
